How to plan a trip with saved posts

2 min readUpdated October 1, 2026

Quick answer

Gather the trip’s saved posts in one place, sort them by city and neighbourhood, put every place on a map, and only then spread them over the days, grouping what is close together. What the post recommended — the dish, the time, the view — goes along, in a note.

Who it’s for: Anyone who saved dozens of posts about a city before a trip and now has to turn them into days.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Gather the trip’s posts

An Instagram collection (“Lisbon 2027”) or a folder in an app. What matters is not searching through all your saves again.

  2. 2

Get the place out of each post

Name, neighbourhood and why you saved it. A “10 cafés” post becomes ten places; keep only the ones you’d really go to.

  3. 3

    Put everything on a map

One Google Maps list per trip. Seeing the pins makes it clear what fits in the same day.

  4. 4

    Build the days by area

One or two neighbourhoods a day, with an “anchor” (the museum, the view) and the rest around it. Leave an afternoon free: something always comes up.

  5. 5

Keep the reason for each place

“Order the octopus”, “go at sunset”, “closed on Mondays”. On the trip, that is what you’ll want to read.

Check opening hours and days first: posts age and places close.

Tips that save time

  • Start from the map, not the list. A list in the order you saved hides that three places are on the same street.
  • Split “must” from “if there’s time”. On the trip, the “if there’s time” fills gaps without becoming a chore.
  • Download the map offline. Google Maps can download an area: the plan works without internet.

The trip folder is already the map

In Munvi, posts about places become pins on their own, with what each post recommended beside them. The trip folder shows everything on a map, grouped by neighbourhood; a “10 cafés” post becomes ten numbered pins. Out on the street, “Directions” opens Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps.

Questions

What about posts that don’t tag the place?

Look for the name in the caption or a tagged profile. In Munvi, a place that wasn’t found is flagged on the card, with a search to pin it by hand.

Does this work with TikTok and YouTube videos?

The same way: only where the post comes from changes. Munvi reads TikTok and YouTube too.
