How to organize your saved posts on Instagram
2 min readUpdated October 1, 2026
Quick answer
Instagram organizes saves into collections: in Profile → ☰ → Saved, tap + to create one and pick the posts that go in it. That works well for what you save from now on; for hundreds of old saves, it is faster to export them and let an app sort them by subject.
Who it’s for: Anyone with a pile of saves in no order at all who wants to find the recipes, places and tips without scrolling through everything.

Collections on Instagram
- 1
Open your saves
On your profile, tap ☰ and then “Saved”. That is where “All posts” and your collections live.
- 2
Create a collection
Tap + at the top, give it a name — “Recipes”, “Travel”, “Home” — and pick the posts that go in it.
- 3
Save straight into a collection from now on
When you save a post, Instagram offers to put it in a collection. Picking one there and then costs a tap and saves the tidying later.
Collections that work
- Few and broad. “Recipes” works; “Air-fryer chicken recipes” becomes one more list to remember. Past ten collections, picking the right one is already work.
- By what you’ll do, not by topic. “To cook this weekend” and “Places to go in town” tell you when to open the collection.
- An inbox. Leave what fits nowhere in “All posts” and tidy now and then, instead of making a collection for every post.
Hand-made collections or automatic folders
| Instagram collections | Automatic folders (Munvi) | |
|---|---|---|
| Who picks the folder | you, every post | the app, by content |
| Old saves | one by one | all at once, with the import |
| Search inside | — | ✓ |
| Title and summary | — | ✓ |
| Works with TikTok and YouTube | — | ✓ |

Folders that sort themselves
In Munvi every saved post lands in the right folder for what it is: the recipe in Recipes, the café in Places. Your old Instagram saves come in through the import — collections become folders with the same name and the rest is sorted by subject. When too much is left loose, Munvi suggests new folders.
Questions
Can I move several saves into a collection at once?
When you create the collection, you pick several posts. After that, the collection offers to add more.
Can a post be in two collections?
Yes. On Instagram collections work like labels: the post stays in “All posts” and in as many collections as you like.
Does deleting a collection delete the posts?
No. The posts stay saved in “All posts”; only the collection goes.
