How to find a post you saved on Instagram
3 min readUpdated October 1, 2026
Quick answer
Saves live in Profile → ☰ → Saved, but Instagram has no search there: you scroll until you find it, or look in the right collection. To search by word, export your saves and search the file, or use an app that reads what the posts say.
Who it’s for: Anyone who remembers saving a recipe, a place or a tip but can’t find it among hundreds of posts.

Where your saves are
- 1
Open your profile and tap ☰
Under “How you use Instagram”, the first item is “Saved”.
- 2
Pick “All posts” or a collection
Saves show newest first, as cover images only. No title, no caption and no search field.
The ways that work
- Scroll with a clue in mind. If you roughly remember when you saved it, scrolling back is quickest. Remembering the cover helps more than remembering the topic.
- Look on the poster’s profile. If you remember who it was, open their profile and look there: one person’s posts are far fewer than your saves.
- Export and search the file. The export includes every saved post’s caption. Open the HTML file on a computer and use Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on a Mac) with a word from the caption. The link takes you to the post.
- Use collections from now on. When you save a post, Instagram offers to put it in a collection: pick one. It doesn’t fix what is already saved, but it shortens the next search.
Each way, in one line
| Search by word | Works on what is already saved | Effort | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scrolling your saves | — | ✓ | high with many saves |
| The poster’s profile | — | ✓ | medium |
| Export and search the file | caption only | ✓ | once |
| Collections | — | — | every post |
| Munvi | ✓ caption, title and what the video said | ✓ with the import | once |

Or search it like a notebook
In Munvi every saved post becomes a note with a title and a summary, and search finds words in the title, the caption, the ingredients and even what was said in the video. You can also ask Mun: “that lemon chicken recipe I saved”. Old saves come in through the Instagram import.
Questions
Does Instagram have search in Saved?
No. You can sort saves into collections, but you can’t search by word inside them.
Can a saved post disappear?
Yes. If the poster deletes it, or makes their profile private and you don’t follow them, it drops out of your saves. An export keeps at least the link and the caption.
Can I see when I saved a post?
Not in the app. Instagram’s export includes the date you saved each post.
